Premiere Elements 11 has encoding options for video sharing sites. Transitions, effects, tools, music, graphics and Instant Movie are the same whether you choose Quick or Expert mode. Video motion and opacity are both keyframable, as is audio volume and balance. New tracks can be added from the Timeline menu. You have a Video track, with audio from the clip in it’s own track. Expert mode.Įxpert mode feels a little more like a traditional NLE. It definitely livens up family videos at the beach. What it comes up with is silly and fun, the way home videos should be. I wasted an hour playing with it instead of getting on with my review. The downside to using the Instant Movie feature is it eats a lot of time – not because it’s hard to use, but it’s entertaining. First it downloaded the elements from Adobe, then it analyzed my clips in the timeline, and finally it asked if I wanted to render it all for smoother playback. I chose the Secret Agent Theme, and PRE11 did the rest. I dumped some assorted b-roll into the timeline, uncut, and hit instant movie. The templates range from a simple Pan and Zoom, to a Yearbook theme. It takes your clips from the timeline and edits them on it’s own, using graphics / soundtrack templates. ![]() Quick mode has an entertaining function called Instant Movie. Instant Movie has several templates to choose from. There is also music and pre-generated graphics to add to your movie. There also also Title and Text presets to choose from in a separate menu. ![]() Effects are split between Video Effects, including Black and White, Lens Flare and Stabilizer, and FilmLooks, including a News reel look, Crushed Color look, and Hollywood Movie look. The tools are split into Adjustments, for adjusting color, lighting and volume Freeze Frame Movie Menu for adding a menu for DVDs and Blu-rays Narration to add sound via the computer’s microphone Pan and Zoom for the video track Smart Mix for a simplified audio mixer Smart Trim, which lets the program clean up edits Time Remapping and Time Stretch.įilters can be added to clips on the timeline by drag-and-drop. There is a button on the bottom of the screen for tools. There are sixteen transitions, from Barn Doors to Zoom Trails. You can easily add transitions between shots. Cuts are added to clips at the timeline, with a small button with a pair of scissors on it located next to the playback head. Clips are dragged around the timeline for editing. Underneath the video track is are two extra audio tracks, one labeled for narration and the other track for general audio. Quick gives you a single video track to work with. Once you’ve added media, you have two modes to choose from when editing – Quick and Expert. Pressing the Add Media button gives you options from importing from the Elements Organizer, importing from memory-based cameras, importing from DV over Firewire or USB 2.0, importing HDV from Firewire or USB 2.0, importing from DVD-based cameras, importing from webcams, importing from other devices (cameras, phones, thumb drives, etc.), or importing from files and folders. You can either drag-and-drop clips from your system, or press the Add Media button. When you choose a new project, PRE11 gives you options for importing media into the project. Upon opening the Video Editor, the program asks whether you want to create a new project or work in an existing project. Editing and adjusting audio and video is done in the Video Editor. ![]() You can view it from the Organizer, as well as add keywords to clips. While you can do some light editing of photos in the Organizer, you can’t edit video. Please see my review of Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 here. The Elements Organizer is the same as the Elements Organizer from Photoshop Elements 11. When you open Premiere Elements 11 you have two choices – the Elements Organizer or the Video Editor. Adobe Premiere Elements 11 is the consumer / home version of Premiere Pro. Adobe has released new versions of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements.
